Think BIG, think different

These series of guest posts are written by the teams attending the Tetuan Valley Startup School Fall edition. The Brown team, formed by Luis Sánchez and Germán Retamosa, is presenting their project, TinkSecurity.

One of the biggest advices an entrepreneur can get is just a two words statement: think BIG. These words aim to motivate yourself beyond your psychological bounds, it’s not just a sentence it’s more than that it’s a way-of-life. Whenever you have an idea, just do it, don’t dwell too much about ‘will they share my idea?’ ‘will this work?’… actually, try it, if you never try then you never know, and don’t put limits to your ideas, the only limit is what you set as a limit. Of course, don’t try to literally ‘fly’ (it’s plain dumb) but think BIG twice before telling something is impossible. Therefore if you can do it, you can do it better, and eventually if you do it better you will succeed, and that’s what start-ups are all about, doing what you love and succeed in the process. There’s a great talk about this by Donald Trump, and it’s a must for any entrepreneur.

However, thinking big is not enough, and that’s a fact when talking about the creation of a start-up, hundreds of highly motivated entrepreneurs fail every year, so you gotta think about ‘think BIG’ but knowing there’s more than “just do it yourself” it’s think DIFFERENT too. Why??? The market is over saturated, each day hundreds of companies are born worldwide and you have to compete with them, and most likely you will lose against them if you don’t make things different, you have to be different and better in order to be worth.

So think different, be innovative, we have been educated to be all the same way, to avoid failing and to put ourselves psychological limits but those of us willing to break those barriers will eventually make it and succeed.

So, we can sum up these advices with one quote which represents the essence of an entrepreneur: Innovation is the ability to see changes as an opportunity, not a threat.
