Segmentation Fault: MultiSurface and multitouch technology

These series of guest posts are written by the teams attending the Tetuan Valley Startup School 2010 Spring edition.
In this post from the Segmentation Fault team, formed by Christopher Valles, Noemi Losada and Gabriel Garcia who are presenting the project. You can keep up-to-date with Segmentation Fault progress on their blog, twitter and website

Introducing our project

Nowdays, multitouch technology is one of the newest ways to human-computer interaction (HCI). We already have some tactile devices, such as the latest generation mobile phones (like iPhone or Nexus One) and other recent devices (like iPad), but this technology has not yet reached the large public. Why multitouch is not present in our daily life? The answer probably is the high cost of commercial touch devices that exist in today’s market.

What do we us? Bring multitouch technology to places where it can be really useful, providing a tactile surface at very competitive prices. Futhermore, we intend to move away from general purpose devices that in many cases, does not meet the specific needs, which causes loss the potencial that multitouch technology really has.

Our approach is to provide a service in which customers can express their needs so that we propose a custom solution based on our MultiSurface and multitouch technology.

What areas could integrate multitouch technology? We believe there are many possibilities and areas where multitouch technology could be a very interesting innovation. A clear example is exhibitions world, in which the common interactive running on a PC acquire a new dimension presented on our MultiSurface. Other businesses such as boutiques, surf boards shops, restaurants and so on could be incorporate our device to improve their customers experience.

We bring you the latest technology, you have to touch it!

About Us

SegmentationFault is composed by three computer science degree students, Noemi Losada (UOC), Gabriel Garcia (UPF) and Christopher Valles (UOC). The team was born 5 years ago when we met in the High School.
The story behind our unusual name is really old, we were on the university doing a practice, “Battleships game” on C, when appears in our screens an error: Segmentation Fault.
This is our team name, maybe a bit long but the most representative words that we want to avoid when we develop software.
