The Tetuan Valley Experience

Have an idea, improve it, develop it, pitch it, pitch it, pitch it… webpage, blog, facebook, twitter, linked in… And your mama never told you there’d be days like these… In today’s world being a successful entrepreneur is more difficult than ever.

On Wednesday the 14th I had the pleasure of attending Tetuan Valley’s Startup School as a mentor. From the minute I walked through the door I realized I found myself in a different environment, and I wasn’t wrong. Inside, a room full of entrepreneurs listening carefully to @abarrera, one of the coordinators of the event, talking about the intricacies of managing your project online. I soon forgot I was there to give a speech and enjoyed the talk; it wasn’t long ago I was in the students’ shoes. I now realize how many pains could have been avoided had I had the help and guidance they are receiving.

It’s difficult to make it as an entrepreneur in today’s world. So Tetuan Valley’s idea couldn’t be better: @luisriverag, @abarrera and @btkutz, know all there is about startups and want to share this knowledge so that entrepreneurs don’t have to go through all the adversities alone. In come groups of people with an idea, out come teams of business-ready entrepreneurs. For 6 weeks they are drilled on all the areas needed to be successful; they are trained to pitch their idea; and they hear from different mentors specialized in the different areas of business.

And all of this is for free. That’s the way to do it. If you have something, and you want to change the world with it, you have spread the knowledge, you have to give it away and hope that people will use it wisely.

In order to show my appreciation for the project I have compiled a small slideshow about the Tetuan Valley Startup School:
