I’m Spanish, choose a sport and I’ll crush you

Those of you that know me well enough understand I’m not a football fan (or bullfigher for that matter) and I’ve never been too skilled in sports beyond skiing (a long time ago in a country far, far away), but after the catchy title + “call to arms” on my last post and news from a Government subsidy received by Okuri Ventures to contribute to our efforts to help entrepreneurs and investors (post to follow soon), its probably important that I comment further to add perspective on my feelings about national pride.

Bad Religion used to anthem in all concerts “I don’t need to be a global citizen ’cause I lost my nationality”. Their view resonated deeply for a long time, but after traveling to the far side of the world I currently see it more as “I need to be Spanish because I’m a global citizen”

If a tenth of our country performed at a tenth of what we’ve seen our champions do in Football, Tennis, Golf, Motorsports, Basketball or Cycling the country would be very different. Spaniards capable of making a difference are scattered all over the world across industries and job functions… so lets stop making excuses for ourselves and get on with it!!!

100% Agree, we must realize that we are at least, as good as "outsiders".

Maybe we need some consistency and concentration, but we are plenty of creativity and something we might call art :)

    A por ellos!
