As I am sure our community has by now noticed, it is with much sadness we we will not be holding a Fall 2011 5th edition in Barcelona. And no, it wasn’t because of what we experienced during the 3 Real Madrid-Barcelona football matches we lived during those six weeks, fortunately none of the cofounders are into football

Barcelona is a great city for entrepreneurs, both foreign and domestic. We have, over the past three editions, been amazed and impressed by the quality of the projects and the determination of the entrepreneurs we’ve worked with. That is why, last edition, the Madrid crew got on the train every week.

Unfortunately, because Tetuan Valley is a boot-strapped, non for profit venture, doing that again this edition is not a sustainable way to continue. Even with CINC‘s geneous contribution of office space, we feel that without anyone from our team physically in Barcelona full time, that we cannot maintain the level of community interaction that we ideally would want to. Basically, we don´t want to give you guys half of the Tetuan Valley experience.

That being said, we are very open to the idea of a local partnership in Barcelona with volunteers or a like minded organization, to host the school there or, in the future, launching a office in Barcelona with Okuri crew members who can foster and support the community there.

This has been an extremely hard decision, and we are going to do our best to find a way back to Barcelona as soon as possible, but when we are back we will be there 100% which is what you guys deserve.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to CINC for all their support over the past year and a half, without their generosity sharing their office space the last 2 editions in Barcelona wouldn’t have been possible.
